Rouhani: Iran-Total deal ‘scientific, high-tech, management cooperation’

TEHRAN, July 4, YJC - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said signing an agreement for development of the 11th phase of South Pars oil field between Iran and Total is not only an economic deal, but also a scientific, technology and management cooperation between Iran and France.

Rouhani: Iran-Total deal ‘scientific, high-tech, management cooperation’TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - “Due to Iran’s talented and industrious youth, the agreement for developing the 11th phase of South Pars is not only an economic cooperation, but also an important cooperation for transfer of science, technology and management,” he said in a meeting with Total CEO and Chairman Patrick Pouyanné here in Tehran.

He also called signing the agreement a positive step for developing economic and technology cooperation between Iran and France.

Iran is after cooperation with large companies, including Total, Rouhani continued.

“At the moment, Iran’s oil and gas projects worth $200 billion are ready for investment and large foreign companies can participate in them,” he said.

Patrick Pouyanné, for his part, called the agreement between Iran and Total very important for the French company, expressing the hope that the agreement could pave the way for presence of other European corporations for developing cooperation with Iran.

“We are optimistic to cooperation with Iranian companies. Total has chosen long-term cooperation with Iran in oil, gas and petrochemical.”
