TEHRAN, June 29, YJC - The deposed crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Nayef, has reportedly been put under house arrest after the recent reshuffling in the country’s royal succession.

Ex-Saudi crown prince under house arrest after royal reshuffling: ReportTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) -On Wednesday, the New York Times cited four current and former American officials and Saudis close to the royal family as saying on condition of anonymity that Mohammed bin Nayef has been barred from leaving the country and confined to his palace in the coastal city of Jidda.

The Saudi internal security services have apparently taken the measure in an attempt to limit any potential opposition to the new crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, the report said.

The Saudi Information Ministry officials could not immediately be reached for comment and it is unclear how long the restrictions will remain in place, Presstv reported.

However, a senior Foreign Ministry official who spoke with the NY on the phone described the account as “baseless and false.”
