TEHRAN, June 28, YJC - Iran blasted the European Parliament anti-human rights statement, describing it as unfounded and baseless.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - “We regard such wrong claims which are based on deception and wrong policies as valueless and without credit,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi.
“Few members of the European Parliament known for their connection to certain hostile groups and MKO have tried to misuse their position and raise unreal allegations about human rights situation in Iran,” he noted.
He also said, “We believe that the move is an effort to influence the process of interaction, cooperation and growing ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and European countries which have had very positive and constructive effects in all spheres for all sides.”
Approximately a third of European Union parliamentarians issued a statement on human rights in Iran, demanding that new sanctions be imposed on Iran.
