Tehran, YJC. Kamran Lankarani has criticized the period when Iran’s foreign policy included mediation by Saudi Arabia.
Kamran Baqer Lankarani said "At a certain point we would base our
foreign policy on mediation by Arab countries where Arabia would make up a fake
power for herself regardless of our interests.”
"Even for some time into the Reform administration there was also Arab
mediation in the course of the President’s visit to Africa. But we need direct
contact in our foreign policy, of which the negotiations with the Six Powers
can be an example,” he added.
He added that the country needs to hold relations with other countries
based on political and economical criteria, something which is missing, he
believed, from our policies at the moment.
