Tehran, YJC. Deputy Secretary of the National Security Committee has said that Iran yielded to the West in nuclear talks during the Reform administration.

Speaking at a meeting with University of Tehran students on Tuesday, Ali Bagheri believed that negotiations in the past are in no way comparable to the current negotiations, saying "In the previous period of time we did not have negotiations. Our national interests and security were damaged. We accepted fake notions as ‘suspension’ which lead us on to the SC.”

He added "In the previous period we closed down the technical side completely. In the end the other side told us to wrap up the whole fuel cycle. This is what Mr. Rohani admitted to in his book National Security and Nuclear Diplomacy.”

Bagheri stated that he would prefer to call the nuclear policy of the Reform administration the "nuclear policy of the past” and name the new era the one of "resistance”.

Regarding promises by the European negotiators, he added "They promised that if Iran acted according to all its obligations, they would open the way to agreement on long-term guarantees for nuclear electricity production. As for what they say that the Europeans did not keep their promises, well, they did not promise anything in the first place.”
