TEHRAN, June 12, YJC - Qatar’s deputy FM, Motlaq Al-qahtani, says the country made ties with Taliban based on the US then-president’s request in 2013.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Qatari deputy FM Motlaq Al-qahtani said that with a request of US, Doha created a communication channel between Washington, Kabul, and Taliban.
Al-qahtani stressed that with respect to its "open door policy” and with the US request, Qatar made an attempt to maintain peace and negotiation between Afghanistan, US, and Taliban.
Currently, however, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, and a number of other Arab countries have cut their diplomatic ties with the country, accusing it as a supporter of terrorism.
