Tehran, YJC. Senior statesman says cooperation between Tehran, and Moscow has helped the Syrian nation gain the upper hand in its battle against enemies.
"Tehran-Moscow cooperation has been constructive, it has
paved the ground for the Syrian government and nation with their resistance under the legitimate
leadership of Bashar al-Assad,” said Ali Akbar Velayati, head of the Strategic
Research Center of the Expediency Discernment Council
Also a senior adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Velayati made the remarks in an interview with
al-Alam news network.
Ties between Tehran and Moscow have had a strong effect on
the developments in regional and international relations, he said while on official
visit to Russia last week as an envoy of President Hassan Rouhani’s special.
On numerous occasions Tehran and Moscow have emphasized the
need for national dialogue among Syrian groups to help resolve the crisis.
Last year, the Islamic Republic put forward a peace plan
which stressed a political resolution of the Syria crisis, the territorial
integrity, and independence of the Arab country as well as its people’s right
to self-determination.
