Tehran, YJC. Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi arrived in Tehran early Tuesday.
Abadi was greeted by Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister in Arab
and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdullahian upon arrival.
The Iraqi leader is heading a political-economical
delegation to Iran.
In his one-day trip, Abadi is scheduled to meet Iran’s First
Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, President Hassan Rouhani, Majlis Speaker Ali
Larijani, and a number of other officials.
This makes Abadi’s first official visit to Iran.
The Iraqi prime minister office said in a statement on
Sunday "Haidar al-Abadi’s Trip to Iran follows attempts to coalesce regional
and international efforts to help Iraq in its fight against ISIL,” adding "The
Iraqi PM’s trip to Iran will last one day.”
