Tehran, YJC. Velayati says it is in favor of Iran, Russia, and China to work in cooperation.
High Consultant to the Supreme Leader pointing to the
upcoming trip by a Chinese delegation to Tehran stated "It is not possible for Russia
or China to assert their presence in the region without Iran.”
Ali Akbar Velayati who was speaking with Mehr News Agency said
"China and Russia are world powers that are trying to establish peaceful
relations with great countries. They try to cooperate with Iran within the
framework of the facilities they have.”
"The amount of oil China buys from Iran reaches 700 barrels
a day. On the other side Beijing has made a lot of progress in trade relations
with Iran. There are a considerable number of civil engineering projects signed
with China and under construction,” he said.
Velayati stated "I think relations with China as an Asian
country with a long-lasting cultural relation with Iran and a country with
which Iran has never been in bad relations will provide a suitable ground to
expand the relations.”
Providing comments on various meetings with Chinese delegations
he stated "In all these sessions I found a common sense toward Iran, that the Chinese
feel good about having relations with Iran. It is important that at their high
ranks, the Chinese desire relations with Iran.”
"Tehran-Moscow relations have also grown better in the
recent years. The proximity of Russia and Iran’s policies on Syria and Iraq is
a sign of their similar policies in international and regional affairs. On the other
hand we have had cooperation with Russia on the nuclear program,” he
maintained.
The Supreme Leader’s consultant added "The Chinese also have
expressed their readiness to cooperate on building more power plants. Now there
comes this question what do we want of relations with these countries. In fact
we are after realizing each other better, expanding our relations based on
understanding, respect, equal rights, and free of intervention in each other’s
affairs.”
"I think that since Iran, Russia, and China are situated in
Asia and approximate each other in geographical and cultural terms, all three
have come to the conclusion is to their benefit. If they want to be actively
present in western Asia north of Africa, and the Middle East, it wont be
possible for them without cooperation with Iran,” he added.
