Tehran, YJC. Rouhani has said that peace is attainable only if a country has a powerful army.

In a meeting with the country’s military officials on Tuesday, President Rouhani said "The government would like the highest prestige and power for the armed forces.”

"The government wants the armed forces to reign people’s hearts. It wants them to be better every day in the sense of being equipped with faith as well as weaponry. But of course they stand at the top place in terms of faith,” Hassan Rouhani asserted.

He further stated "The government will use all its power to support and to boost the armed forces. It also wants the armed forces to join hands with the government in these present situations to help resolve people’s problems.”

"It is the desire of the 11th administration to eradicate regional tension and to bring peace,” he said, adding "Peace and the elimination of tension are contingent upon having powerful armed forces. But if you do not have a powerful army, peace would be useless and would rather mean abjection.”

Rouhani maintained "Dignity comes by when there are people ready, devout, and united; and a powerful army. Then you can talk to the rival powerfully.”
