Tehran, YJC. Iran’s Head of Judiciary has criticized UN human rights rapporteur for adopting double standards.

Sadeq Amoli Larijani speaking at a meeting pointed out that once a US president called Iranians barbarous and said "Barbarians are those who dispatch forces to Afghanistan from thousands of kilometers away to bombard people’s carnival, shed the blood of women and children, massacre thousands of innocent people in Iraq, are accomplice in Palestine and Bahrain, and committed those crimes in Vietnam. So it is you who are barbarians.”

"Terrorists and the Takfiri grew out of the core of governments which are backed by countries such as the US. Governments which have not had one single election in their entire history are backed by the US. Yet they up and say ‘We defend human rights!’”

Pointing to a report by the UN Special Rapporteur on the life sentence given to smugglers in Iran, Larijani stated "There is the life sentence in many countries like even the US. But they are not under such pressure by human right pretenders.”

He then blamed the Western world for not allowing investigation into the Holocaust while they keep accusing Iran of human rights violation.

"Of course Iran will never bow down to such pressure. All know that biased reports on the status of human rights in Iran are only to exert more pressure and Westerners do not really care about human rights,” he asserted.
