Online reports that president Hassan Rouhani speaking in a conference in honor
of choice researchers said "If we are living in a country where the application
of nuclear weapons is haraam based on the Leader’s fatwa, or if some research
requires us to use nuclear weapons, would that research be respectable?”
"For
our religious views, our country is not after mass destruction weapons and does
not see them within its national interests or defense doctrine,” he stressed.
He pointed
out "Today we have reached a point in the nuclear section where it was not
believable the first day.”
