Tehran, YJC. Iran’s Deputy Chief of Police says that the Interpol has issued a Red Notice on former Central Bank President.
Brigadier General Ahmadreza Radan in a joint meeting with
judiciary experts and Interpol representatives said "Through close cooperation
between the Police, the judiciary system, and the Foreign Ministry, the suite
was filed to hand Khavari over and we followed the case in Canada.”
He added that when Canadian officials had announced the
former Iranian banker a citizen he was not in Canada, so that Iran had to send
documents to Canadian officials once more, after which the Interpol decided to
publish a Red Notice on Khavari.
"After the Red Notice, the Iranian Police requested Khavari
to be delivered by the Canadian Police, but Canadian officials said that based
on the documents sent by Iran and the Red Noticed issued, they admitted that
Khavari was in Toronto, Canada, but that they had not been able to locate him,”
Radan added.
He further said that the Iranian police has sent the
Canadian counterpart a photo and phone number relating to the wanted person, "leaving
no excuse for not handing him over.”
