Tehran, YJC. The Ayatollah says that in Ramadan the number of criminal cases in the Judiciary diminish by a great degree.

Tasnim news agency reports from Qom that in his first hermeneutics session for the Yasin sura of the holy Quran, Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani said "The holy Ramadan comes with astonishing instances. The first one being that all Muslims are the guests of God. In this divine feast God is hospitable. It is clear that the host is extremely rich and wise and is kind and benevolent to his guests.”

He added "During the whole month, Muslims are fasting half of the time, that is, around 24 hours a day, and that is itself a physical worshipping.”

"God ordered us to fast in order to be clean. People who fast sin less,” the Grand Ayatollah continued, stating that being clean and devout is one of the many reasons behind fasting.

Sobhani also said that another reason why fasting is obligatory is that crime rates diminish in the holy month of Ramadan.

"If you look at crime rates you will notice that in this month the number of criminal cases radically decreases,” he asserted.
