Iran, Germany to expand bilateral railroad cooperation

TEHRAN, November 13 - Iran and Germany are going to expand cooperation in railroad transportation, said President of Iranian National Railroad Saeed Mohammad-Zadeh.

Iran, Germany to expand bilateral railroad cooperationTEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Germany is one of the most influential EU members and the biggest economy of the EU, he said in a meeting with Tillmann Rudolf Braun, the Middle East Deputy of German Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

“Relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran with Germany and expanding bilateral cooperation in economic and political fields is one of the main priorities of the Islamic Republic’s diplomacy,” he said.

Iran is the safest and most secure country in the Middle East, he said, adding Iran’s potential could make it a successful market and trade partner for foreign investment.

The volume of Iran’s trade with the EU has risen by over 60 percent since the nuclear deal between Iran and P5+1, the Iranian official said.

“One of our programs is expanding our share of railroad in goods transit between economic poles of the world, especially between Persian Gulf and northern Europe and between East Asia and Europe via Iran.”

Iran has made over $1.5 billion directly in railroad transportation, he continued.

He said that Iran’s railroad has investigated a plan for developing infrastructure jointly with its foreign consultant and is going to create systems and services with German railroad which is expected to make a considerable development in Iran’s railroad management.

Iran has also had certain railroad plans with some German companies and held talks with Siemens.

He added that Iran and Germany can work in electrifying Tehran-Mashhad, Garmsar-Incheboroun and Qom-isfahan cities railroads.
