TEHRAN, YJC. The Supreme Leader says that only in Iran do presidential candidates find fair chances to express themselves to the nation without expending as much as a penny.
The Supreme Leader attended the anniversary of
Imam Khomeini on Tuesday to deliver guidelines on the country’s state of
affairs, especially the upcoming presidential elections.
He said "Those who think that there is a big
silent population in opposition to the system must have forgotten the huge
assembly walking out on February 11th and shouting death to the US. To
turn the electoral atmosphere cold their thought groups sit behind the press
and political spokesmen and make up words to feed to the media. One day they
say elections are rigged. Another day they say there’s no free election. Again they
say elections are not legitimate and the people don’t know us and where they do
they are unjust. Where in the world are various candidates, from famous to
unknown, to have the same share of the country’s media?”
He asserted "In capitalist societies, if they
are members of parties and enjoy the support of capitalists and wealth and
power mafia they can campaign. Everyone who has followed elections in the US
will agree that in Iran the candidates talk to the people without having spent
as much as a penny. Where in the world can such a thing be found?”
