TEHRAN, April 10, YJC - Father Nawar al-Najjar from the Catholic University in Mosul has asserted that Iraq needs to coexist for the permanence of pride and cohesion amongst its people.
TEHRAN,
Young Journalists Club (YJC)- Al-Najjar arrived in Karbala with a Christian delegation from Nineveh Plains (southeast Mosul) and met with the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority.
"We hope the religious authorities emphasize on the issue of citizenship, which represents the common denominator between all segments of the Iraqi people and bringing to light the slogan ‘I am an Iraqi before I am a Muslim or a Christian’,” stated Father al-Najjar.
Adding, "We must coexist according to the principle of Imam Ali, peace be upon him, that says ‘people are of two kinds: either your brother in faith or your equal in creation.”
The Christian delegate agreed that the so-called Islamic Caliphate initiated by ISIS distorted the true religion of Islam.
