Iran, Turkey to keep good relations despite minor differences – Larijani

TEHRAN, YJC. The Iranian Majlis (parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani has said that despite minor disagreements, Iran and Turkey do their best to keep their cooperation robust and constructive.

Larijani who was making the remarks in Istanbul on Tuesday evening, added "There is agreement with Turkey on many issues and attempt will be made to improve trade levels between the two countries.”

The Iranian parliament speaker is in Turkey to attend the 10th Summit of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC (Organization of the Islamic Conference) Member States.

"Iran and Turkey can act as complementary sides in economic issues. They can also cooperate on security issues so that peace may prevail the region,” he said.

Pointing to his meeting earlier the day with his Turkish counterpart, he said "We held positive talks with the Turkish Parliament speaker which can lead to improvements in economic and political bonds.”

Addressing the Iranian nationals of Turkey present at the meeting, he praised the successful Iranians in the neighbor country for playing a positive role in introducing the Iranian culture to the people of Turkey.

The Iranian students who are studying in Turkey also play a major role in conducting scientific relations with scholarly environments inside Iran, he further noted.
