Wednesday, 1 June 2022 (YJC)_ The Iranian foreign ministry condemned France and Germany biased statement on Greek oil tankers.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh condemned France and Germany biased statement on seized Greek oil tankers.
“Iran strongly blasts the one-sided and unjustifiable statements,” he said while noting “Such statements seem to have become an unchangeable habit for these countries.”
Khatibzadeh went on to add that “based on international laws should these countries uphold legal proceedings to ensure freedom of navigation and maritime security. Unfortunately, France and Germany remain silent regarding the illegal seizure of the Iranian-flagged ship by the Greek authorities.”
“It is appropriate for the competent authorities of Iran to resolve the issues through legal and judicial means,” he said while noting “such inappropriate interventions will not help to resolve the issues.”
German and French foreign ministries disapproved seizure of the Greek tankers by Iran, and said it was violation of international regulations.
IRGC announced in a statement on Friday that it had seized two Greek oil tankers. Prior to that, Iranian oil tanker was captured by Greece in its territorial waters and its oil cargo was transferred to the US.
