TEHRAN, Jan 17 - Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri and Azerbaijani President Ilham exchanged views about a range of issues, including ways to boost cooperation between the two neighboring countries in various defense areas.

A military-defense memorandum of understanding (MoU) is slated to be signed at the end of Major General Baqeri's visit to Azerbaijan.
Iran and Azerbaijan have accelerated efforts in recent years to forge closer partnership in various areas.
The Azeri president has paid several official visits to Tehran over the past few years.
In one of the trips in 2016, the two sides signed eleven memorandums of understanding and agreements to promote mutual cooperation in a range of fields.
