TEHRAN, December 24 - Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called on the Iranian Police to keep developing their capabilities and act in a “prudent and reassuring” manner.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - A group of Iranian Police commanders and officials met with Ayatollah Khamenei in Tehran on Sunday.
In the gathering, the Leader, commander-in-chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, lauded the police forces as “guardians of order and security” in the society whose performance is closely judged by the public opinion.
“You must act in such a way that people would consider the Law Informant Force (Police) as a mighty, fair and vigilant force,” Ayatollah Khamenei told the commanders.
The Leader then explained that various units of the Police serving in the stations, outposts and police patrols are under observation of people, saying a judgement on the Police performance is generalized to all Armed Forces and to the Islamic Establishment.
Hailing the Police’s advances and stressing the need for continued progress, Ayatollah Khamenei said the Police’s performance must be wise, prudent and also reassuring and trust-building for people.
In October 2016, the Leader had called on the Police to constantly boost capabilities and match them to rapid advances in science and technology.
Imam Khamenei had also hailed police forces as a pillar of security in the country, stressing that security is the origin of personal peace of mind as well as public and social calmness.
Iran’s Police Force is in charge of ensuring security in the cities, on the roads and along the borders.
It has a broad range of responsibilities and includes several divisions, including cyber police, border guard police, traffic police, criminal investigation department, and a bureau for compulsory military service affairs.
