TEHRAN, May 4 - British Government’s spokesman Edwin Samuel said on Thursday that his country will support Iran nuclear deal and underlines Prime Minister Teresa May's decision to keep up backing the deal.

British Gov’t reiterates continued support for JCPOATEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) – He further noted that British government's stance vis-à-vis Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Natanyahu's statements is clear, as it supports the deal as well as the institutes in charge of monitoring implementation of the international pact.

Samuel further pointed out that US likely exit from the deal with Iran is not in the interest of the region, Persian Gulf littoral states and Britain.

The agreement is not all embracing, complete or ideal, as there are some points which can be amended, he said.

However, he said that the agreement is considered a major starter, as it removes the possibility of arms race in the Middle East and North Africa.

Teresa May’s administration is determined to throw weight behind Iran nuclear deal and it also encourages Iran to stop interference in regional countries’ affairs, he claimed.

Abrogation of nuclear deal is not in the interest of the US, Persian Gulf littoral states and even Iran, he said, calling on all to avoid making harsh statements about the deal.

The JCPOA stands for Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the official name of the agreement reached between Iran and six world major powers in 2015 to give Tehran sanctions relief in return for scaling back its nuclear program.
