TEHRAN, February 26 - European nations are being warned to turn their attention back to Turkey which is becoming a haven for Daesh members as the government focuses on fighting Kurdish forces, experts warned.

Europe warned over ‘hiding’ Daesh members in Turkey posing deadly threatTEHRAN,Young Journalists Club (YJC) - European reluctance to hold Erdogan to account for human rights violations and reticence to rock the boat since Turkey agreed to take in Europe-bound migrants from the Middle East has created a dangerous situation, it was said, Express reported.

Former police chief Ahmet Yayla, a professor of criminology, law and society at George Mason University warned the west to be vigilant over its neighbor, where a blind sport currently exists, Express said.

He said: “Unfortunately this is the case, the Europeans are not taking this seriously enough.

“They must do more to counter not only this but human rights violations by the Erdogan government

“ISIS had a lot of money so to pay smugglers to get into Turkey without being detected - it was easy.

“They learnt how to deal with the SDF with bribes. ISIS most probably would not carry out an attack in Turkey right now, Turkey being the only base they have since they lost Syria and Iraq

“Turkey does not consider ISIS to be a priority, in fact there is this ongoing attitude to ISIS, that it is not as important as other issues.

“The Turkish authorities are not doing anything to counter ISIS.

“For them, coup supporters and the PKK are the main interest and they are going after those people.”

Syrian-Kurdish intelligence officer Ciwan Xhalil said 850 Britons who joined Daesh in Syria had not escaped the country.

Around 400 have returned, many were killed, but it is believed as many as 300 could be hiding out in Turkey.

Despite Daesh being battered in the Middle East and driven across the desert into neighboring nations, expert warn the threat is not over.

Sleeper cells and lone wolves remain a threat which security services must be ready for.
Yayla said: “There are sleeping cells in Europe.

“You can make a pressure cooker bomb in your apartment- in your kitchen - by spending €50 and all you need is sugar and some chemicals from your local store
“And you can kill a lot of people.”

In the last 20 days a number of Daesh-linked prisoners have allegedly been released from prison in Turkey.

One of those is Afra Shaar, the wife of Turkish Daesh terrorist Faysal Selimoğlu. It was believed she would be sentenced quickly but Shaar was released pending trial.

Mehdi Aker, the deputy chief of the ruling AKP party in Turkey, said it was the Kurds releasing prisoners.
