TEHRAN, October 9 - The Islamic Republic Navy has successfully thwarted a major pirate attack on an Iranian merchant vessel in Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Alvand destroyer of the Iranian Navy rushed to the help of an Iranian merchant vessel when pirates on board 7 ships attacked the vessel in the hope of capturing it early on Monday.
Accordingly, the Gulf of Aden pirates, using light and heavy weapons, intended to capture Iranian merchant vessel carrying valuable goods worth millions of dollars. They were forced to flee immediately after they encountered Alvand destroyer.
In recent years, Iran’s Navy has increased its presence in international waters to safeguard maritime routes in international waters and provide security for merchant vessels and tankers.
