TEHRAN, June 10, YJC - Iran said a unified Iraq would guarantee interests of the nation.
TEHRAN, Young Journalists Club (YJC) - Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said, "A unified, stable and democratic Iraq will guarantee interests of the nation from all tribes and religons they are.”
His remarks came following Iraqi Kurdistan Region’s unilateral decision to hold referenadum on independence.
"The fundamnetal and clear policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is support for Iraq’s territirial integrity and solidarity. Kurdistan Region is part of the Republic of Iraq and uilateral decisions which are beyond national and legal rules and principles specailly beyond Iraq’s Constitution will only lead to making new problems in the country specially amid onging complicated situation in Iraq and region.”
