DPRK defence committee vice-charman stripped of all military ranks and dismissed from all posts for "inconceivable crimes"--KCNA.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK ) has officially confirmed reports about resignation of Jung Sung Taek, 67, Vice-Chairman of the National Defence Committee, head of the organization department of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

Central Committee. He is the uncle of North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Monday.

According to the report, Jung Sung Taek has been relieved of all his posts in view of his "criminal wrongdoing". A decision to this effect was made at a meeting of the WPK leadership this past Sunday.

"Jung and his followers committed inconceivable crimes, doing
tremendous harm to our Party and the Revolution," KCNA emphasizes.

South Korean intelligence data have it that two close assistants and
confidants of Jung SungTaek were executed in the DPRK earlier. Since then
noone has seen Jung in public.

For a long time Jung had been reckoned one of the most influential figures in the North Korean leadership. He had played an important role in consolidating the position of Kim Jong Un in power following the sudden death of his father Kim Jong Il in December 2011.
