Tehran, YJC. Majlis Speaker says Iran is ready to register the Leader’s fatwa denouncing nuclear weapons as a UN document.
In interview with China’s Phoenix Television on Thursday,
Ali Larijani said "The biggest obstacle in Iran’s nuclear energy case is
the Zionist
regime. They follow something else, that’s why they exert so much pressure.”
The Speaker of the Majlis of Iran stated "Other powers are
influenced by the Zionist regime. The US has been at odds with the Iranian nation
since the beginning of the Revolution, because the Shah was overthrown and a
democratic system was established.”
He asserted "The world knows that we are not after nuclear
weapons, because the Supreme Leader and Imam Khomeini have always denounced
mass destruction weapons as haram.”
"The Supreme Leader has called nuclear arms haram in the
form of a fatwa. We were even willing to register this fatwa, which is above the
law, as a document in the UN,” Larijani further said.
He added "We believe that the law can change, but this fatwa
is above the law. Some are trying to pressurize us in order to deprive us of
the nuclear science. But I believe that the problem has to be met in its
totality, that is why the new administration is going to take the nuclear case
to some conclusion via active diplomacy.”
