Tehran, YJC. Foreign Minister has stressed the fact that both Iran and the US need to step forward in building trust.
In his
first interview with a foreign channel, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammadjavad Zarif
said "We and the US suffer from
mutual distrust. We are ready to attract
America’s trust in the peacefulness of our nuclear program. We would like the US
as well to prove its truthful will to peace and to abandon its threatening
language.”
"Calling to war is a dangerous crime. It will never be in the interest of our regional friends, nor of the US,” Zarif told Al-Mayadeen.
Pointing to the Syrian crisis, he asserted "Those who used to shade tears in front of international TV channels must support the peaceful approach to Syria. Democracy in Syria would require that no precondition is defined.”
He also criticized the Arab states that endorse the application of force against Syria for their "unwise” act, which "would first of all afflict those who call for it.”
"Force is no more able to realize the outcomes favored by the US. The Russian initiative and Syria’s decision on chemical weapons were wise,” Iran’s Foreign Minister asserted.
Zarif in the end added "The UK Foreign Secretary William Hague has proposed a meeting which I have accepted.”
He also denied the report that Hassan Rouhani has been invited to the Hajj ritual.
