Tehran, YJC. The Young Journalists' Club is holding the first photo and film mourning memorial on this year's Arba'een.

The Young Journalists' Club (YJC) is intending to launch a gallery on this year's Arba'een which will exhibit photos and films taken by pilgrims who go to Imam Hussayn's shrine on foot.

Arba'een is the 20th day of Safar, second month in the Islamic calendar, and is the day on which the 3rd Shiite Imam Hussayn ibn Ali was buried 40 days after his martyrdom. The day holds special significance with the Shiite.

The YJC is planning this year to launch a pop film and photo gallery as an attempt to further propagate the cause of Imam Hussayn and help introduce the story of Ashura, Muharram the 10th, and the 40 days following the martyrdom of the Imam, the entirety of which has turned into a cult in the Shiite culture.

The YJC is therefore calling upon the public to send their videos and photos for show in the gallery.

The works will be observed by a jury and top ones will be given awards and cast on the YJC website as well as Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) news programs.

Films and photos taken by camera or cell phone are accepted.

The works must relate to the marches taken by pilgrims who visit the Imam’s holly shrine in Kerbala and have to date the current year.

Works that depict scenes from the marches are of priority. Also, the quality and length of the films will have impacts on how they are evaluated.

Participants may send their works via cell phone applications to 09014812663 or via email to arbaeen@yjc.ir or via mail to the Secretariat of 1436 Film and Photo Mourning Gallery, Young Journalists’ club, next to Mellat Park, Valiasr St., Tehran.

The participant’s full ID and address, as well as contact info must be included along with a short note about the work sent.

Works are accepted from December 6 to 21.

The works admitted will be subject to the gallery’s secretariat copyright, which will have the right to use them as fitting its programs; but if published anywhere, they will come under the name of the participant.

The participant is free to use his/her works in personal galleries and collections as well.

Works will be judged by a board of experts in photography and film making.

The secretariat will consider the sender as the owner of the work. In case otherwise is understood to be the case, the work will be removed from the event and any further consequence will be the responsibility of the sender.

Woks sent must comply with the IRI culture and law.

Works sent after the deadline or which violate the conditions will not be considered.

Photo requirements:

- Photos could be in color or black and white.

- There is no limit in number of the works to be sent.

- Photos must not have been edited or include notes, logos, or date.

Film requirements:
